Jurnal SHARE memfokuskan pada materi kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh dosen, praktisi maupun mahasiswa. Secara filosofis, “jati diri“ jurnal dapat dimaknai sebagai berikut: 1. “SHARE“ merupakan akronim dari SHaring – Action – REflection yang berarti “berbagi, tindakan dan refleksi“. Ini memiliki makna sebuah proses yang berkelanjutan. 2. Kata “SHARE“ sendiri berarti berbagi. Ini mengisyaratkan 4 hal prinsip: a. Hakekat dari hidup adalah berbagi dengan sesama. b. Ilmu pengetahuan bersifat universal sehingga haruslah dibagi dan diabdikan. c. Panggilan seorang pendidik adalah membagi ilmu dan pengalaman dengan sesama pendidik, mahasiswa dan masyarakat. d. Berbagi merupakan pengejawantahan nilai-nilai kristiani. 3. Penggunaan warna biru mewakili makna kestabilan dan intelegency sehingga media ini diharapkan terbit secara rutin, konsisten dengan makna filosofis yang disandangnya, bersubstansi ilmiah dan mewakili kecerdasan intelektual penulisnya

Abstract

It takes a breakthrough to empower and synergize all the potential that already exists in society in order to achieve the service to child development as a whole, comprehensive and integrated. One of the very media that support the growth and development of children is EGT. Educative Game Tools now widely sold in the market with varying prices. In general, much of the education providers are still buying game tools to support children's learning. This of course will foster consumptive culture and weaken the educator's ability to be creative and innovative in providing a quality learning for children. Thus, the authors attempt to develop a training activity in order to encourage the creativity of Instructor/Mother of preschool children to design various kind of EGT from cheap and easily obtainable materials.

Abstract

Special Junior High School of Educational Foundation for the Blind Children (SMPLB-A YPAB), in Jalan Gebang Putih No.5 Surabaya, was a special school for diffable students for years. Unfortunately the school was less accessible. Therefore an accessibility evaluation and participatory design were needed for answering this challenge. The evaluation and design were conducted in a framework of Service Learning AR.633 Inclusive Design Course conducted by the Architectural Program if Petra Christian University. The Service Learning method was suitable for this because educating the architectural students about the Inclusive Design and serving the less privilege persons such as diffable students. The evaluation process as well as participatory or inclusive design was creative. The process involved the interview with blind students and blind teachers, the accessibility simulation of the Architectural students in the blind school, the Focus Group Discussions with diffable students and teachers (including the diffable teachers). The 1:20 - scale - architectural - model was found effective for the communi-cation process. And, two alternative designs were proposed for renovating the blind school. The case emphasized that creative process need more participation of all stakeholders in the building.

Abstract

This article provides description of public services project carried out by the Petra's Department of Architecture and the Department of Visual Communication Design under the full support from Petra's Research & Public Service Institution. The main activities of this project are video production training and video screening for Bratang Tangkis community. The main target for this project is people living in the Kampung of Bratang Tangkis, Barata Jaya and Kendangsari. They were chosen as a result of PCU collaboration with The Residents of Surabaya's River Bank Community within the platform of Ayorek! The residents feel the need to proactively document their living environment potential, an activity that is related with the development of local economy and in-line with the nation's strategy to develop creative economy. The training material is performing participative video recordings of wedding ceremonies and traditional events that took place within the kampung, followed with training on video transfer and editing.

Abstract

Each Petra Christian university student should join either community service or service learning course as a compulsory to complete the undergraduate program. It has influenced the learning environment especially in architecture department of Petra Christian University. The learning outcome of this program is to provoke the students to be able to think critically and to be care of the community needs, so that they can be whole beings that will become visionair leaders in the future. This kind of program was being set accordingly to Petra Christian University’s academic vision and also university excellence value.

Abstract

The Community Service Project funded by the Higher Education IbM grant entitled "English Communication Competence for Character Development in the Children Study Group in Kelurahan Dr Soetomo, Surabaya", was carried out in September and October 2013. The project aimed at helping to uplift the region to be a participating region in support of Surabaya as a child-friendly and decent city. In implementation, the project has been attended by no less than 50 foster children of the local Early Childhood Education (ECE), RW 3, 6 lecturers, 16 students, and 8 local ECE attendants. The project has contributed some results, such as: materials for developing English communication competence in support of character development; institutional strengthening of the local ECE, RW 3, Kelurahan Dr. Soetomo, Surabaya; empowering the competence of the local ECE attendants; facilitating playing and learning activities for the development of English communication competence for character development at the local ECE; demonstrations of English communication competence based on character development. Finally, the project has contributed the strengthening and empowering of the human resources, and provided some insight to those who have directly and indirectly participated in the project.

Abstract

This community service is conducted to do designing and maintaining STT Yestoya web as communication media for students services. According to the objective above this community service has involved and empowered the students of STT Yestoya as the actors in utilization of the web of the institution. The impact of this project is expected to increase the student ability in managing web in order to develop their congregations in the utilization of the internet. The project mechanism is done by giving coaches and practices that organized in three phases. The topics are photography for media, web development and writing for the web. The results of the community service are to raise writing skill, take the best angle of photoes and maintain web by the teamwork.

Abstract

Cross Border Service Learning Summer Institute (SLSI) 2013 was held by Lingnan University, Hong Kong. this was a international coorporate program with the universities in Asia. during 8 weeks, 20 participants of SLSI 2013 which were from eight different universities and all of them from East of Asia were doing service learning program which had social issued in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The service learning focused learn about active aging and social enterprise. The participants divided by 5 groups and they had practicum in 5 different social organitationsfor 14 days. In addition the participants had reponsible to finish weekly journal, report back presentation, reflective essay and research proposal.
